International Consultant for Implanon NXT Introduction

About the role

The International Individual Consultant will support the Ministry of Health and UNFPA in introducing Implanon NXT in Timor‑Leste. The role combines remote technical preparation with on‑site training, stakeholder engagement and pilot implementation oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Review and adapt national family planning training materials, develop agendas, monitoring tools and competency checklists.
• Provide technical input during a national stakeholder consultation and validate the introduction plan.
• Lead a five‑day Training of Trainers, covering product knowledge, counselling, clinical procedures, adverse event management and adult‑learning techniques.
• Oversee the initial pilot rollout in three government facilities, mentor providers, monitor compliance and document outcomes.
• Prepare comprehensive reports on the ToT, pilot implementation and a national scale‑up plan.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Midwifery, Public Health, Reproductive Health or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience with contraceptive implant services, specifically Implanon NXT insertion and removal.
• Proven experience in facilitating training, clinical mentoring and report writing.
• Experience working with UN agencies, ministries of health or international development partners is an advantage.
