Water Supply Design Specialist

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Water Supply Design Specialist to lead the design of intake structures, hydraulic networks and related systems for urban water supply projects. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary experts to ensure sustainable and effective water infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and investigations for intake and hydraulic network design.
• Perform transient and surge analysis from intake to storage facilities.
• Design water supply system components, including electrical, mechanical and control elements.
• Prepare detailed drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and technical specifications.
• Implement modifications and adjustments to optimise system performance and sustainability.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 13 years of professional experience in urban water supply design.
• At least five completed urban water supply assignments in a similar role.
• Six years of experience working in the Asia‑Pacific region; additional regional experience is a plus.
• Experience with IFI‑funded projects (World Bank, ADB, EIB) is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Timor‑Leste administrative systems and government organisations is a plus.
