Storekeeper - Warehouse Operations

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is hiring a Storekeeper in Dili, Timor-Leste, on a 9-month renewable service contract. The role handles receipt, dispatch and verification of commodities to maximise the quality of warehouse operations, mitigate losses and support storage management in line with WFP warehouse standards.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and dispatch commodities, including transshipment (truck to truck), against approved documentation such as waybills and delivery notes, with accurate physical counts and quality checks.
• Prepare, verify and sign off warehouse and transport documents, keep confidential files and accurate transaction records, and report commodity movements promptly.
• Carry out daily warehouse closing reconciliation and inventory checks supporting internal controls.
• Inspect commodities daily, investigate stock discrepancies and damages, and prepare warehouse loss reports with recommended solutions.
• Safeguard food and non-food commodities using standard preventive measures and monitor warehouse conditions to support efficient space planning and storage.
• Provide guidance and on-the-job training to warehouse staff.

Required profile

• Secondary school completion; a post-secondary certificate in the related field is desirable.
• Fluent English (level C) and Tetum; knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
• Desired experience: using logistics databases to extract routine reports, managing warehouses with food and non-food items, managing inventories, coordinating with government and third-party providers, and processing invoices.
