Social Management & Gender Consultant

About the role

The Social Management & Gender Consultant will ensure that social safeguards, gender inclusion and community engagement are fully integrated into construction and infrastructure projects, particularly those related to water supply, sanitation (WASH) and associated mechanical, electrical, road and building works.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate social safeguards and gender considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with project teams and Water and Sanitation facilitators to promote inclusive and equitable implementation.
• Address the needs of vulnerable groups and ensure gender‑responsive outcomes.
• Support community engagement activities and stakeholder consultations.
• Provide guidance on social and gender aspects for mechanical, electrical, road and building components.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Sociology or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in social management, gender, community development or construction supervision/project design.
• Demonstrated experience on WASH projects and familiarity with infrastructure works.
• Strong understanding of social inclusion, gender equality and participatory approaches.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and, preferably, with Water and Sanitation facilitators.
• Local knowledge to enable effective stakeholder engagement.
