Quantity Surveyor

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its team working on urban water infrastructure projects in the Asia‑Pacific region. The role involves preparing detailed Bills of Quantities and unit price analyses for modifications to civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring cost‑effective solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for proposed modifications.
• Perform unit price analysis using current labour, material and equipment price lists.
• Coordinate with civil, pipework, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation specialists to define technical specifications.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and asset operators to align cost estimates with project scope.
• Support the preparation of tender documentation and cost control reports.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Cost Engineer.
• At least five completed urban water assignments in a similar role.
• Six years of experience working in the Asia‑Pacific region, preferably with exposure to Timor‑Leste.
