Quality Engineer

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure that all construction and project activities meet established quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role focuses on water supply, sanitation (WASH), and related infrastructure projects, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and local stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor QA/QC plans for water supply, sanitation, mechanical, electrical, road, and building works.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and testing to verify compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with Water and Sanitation facilitators and local communities to ensure sustainable project delivery.
• Document non‑conformances, recommend corrective actions, and track their implementation.
• Provide technical guidance to construction supervisors and design teams on quality matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in construction supervision, project design, or quality engineering.
• Proven experience in quality engineering for water supply, sanitation (WASH), or related infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, standards, and relevant codes.
• Ability to work effectively in field‑based, multidisciplinary environments.
