Communications Intern – Market Development Facility

About the role

The Market Development Facility (MDF) is seeking a Communications Intern to support its communication activities, partnership implementation and media engagement across Timor‑Leste. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to development projects that promote economic growth, gender empowerment and climate action.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in creating and distributing communication materials for MDF initiatives.
• Support partnership implementation by preparing content and updates for stakeholders.
• Engage with media outlets and help monitor coverage of MDF activities.
• Contribute to digital and content marketing efforts, including social media posts.

Required profile

• Final‑year university student or recent graduate (within 2 years) in Communication, Media Studies or related field.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• No prior professional work experience required.
• Excellent written and spoken Tetun and English.
• Willingness to travel regularly throughout Timor‑Leste.

Required skills

• Familiarity with digital and content marketing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro and Canva (preferred).
