Group Security Officer – Senior Leadership Role

About the role

East Timor Trading Group is looking for a senior‑level Group Security Officer to lead the governance and oversight of security operations from its Dili office. This office‑based position reports directly to senior management and shapes security policy, compliance and liaison with local authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement security policies, protocols and procedures aligned with the company’s risk profile and Timor‑Leste regulatory requirements.
• Oversee performance and compliance of contracted security service providers, including audits and corrective actions.
• Serve as the principal point of contact with security companies, ensuring training standards, conduct and contractual obligations are met.
• Maintain professional relationships with local administration, the Polícia Nacional de Timor‑Leste (PNTL) and relevant government departments.
• Interpret political and operational contexts to advise senior management on security risks and sensitivities.
• Lead incident response, investigations and post‑incident reviews.
• Prepare regular reporting on security posture, compliance and emerging risks for senior leadership.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of experience in security management or a deputy/oversight role, ready for senior responsibility.
• Native or near‑native Portuguese, strong written and spoken English, and proficiency in Tetum.
• Experience managing or auditing third‑party security providers.
• Confidence engaging with police, local government and regulatory authorities.
• Solid understanding of risk assessment and incident management.
• Strong political judgement and discretion.
