Programme Assistant – Social Protection

About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking a Programme Assistant to support its Social Protection portfolio in Timor‑Leste. The role will be based in Dili and will involve regular field visits to ensure effective implementation of social protection interventions aligned with national development plans.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, monitoring and reporting of social protection programmes.
• Coordinate with government agencies, development partners and WFP teams to ensure alignment with the Country Strategic Plan (2026‑2030).
• Prepare and update programme documents, data tables and briefing notes.
• Support logistics for field visits, including travel arrangements and data collection.
• Contribute to the preparation of budgets, financial tracking and procurement requests related to the programme.
• Provide administrative support for meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagements.

Required profile

• University degree in social sciences, development studies, economics or a related field.
• Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably with social protection or food security programmes.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government officials, NGOs and internal WFP units.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Portuguese or Tetum is an asset.
