About the role
The GEDSI Officer will lead the integration of Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) approaches across program design, implementation and monitoring. This role supports inclusive water, climate resilience and disaster preparedness activities while building capacity among staff, partners and communities.
Key responsibilities
- Integrate GEDSI standards into all phases of program delivery and ensure inclusive practices.
- Provide training, mentoring and technical support on disability inclusion tools such as Washington Group Questions.
- Facilitate participation of women, people with disabilities and marginalized groups in community planning and decision‑making.
- Collect and analyse GEDSI‑sensitive data, track indicators and contribute to reporting.
- Coordinate with CARE Timor‑Leste, local authorities and civil society to advocate for inclusive policies and align with DFAT GEDSI requirements.
Required profile
- 3–5 years experience in GEDSI, community development or humanitarian programmes.
- Proven track record of mainstreaming gender and disability inclusion.
- Experience working with vulnerable communities, NGOs, government or donor‑funded projects (DFAT experience is a plus).
- Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health or related field.
- Relevant training in gender equality, disability inclusion, safeguarding or social inclusion.
