Community Development Officer-3

About the role

The Community Development Officer-3 will support World Vision’s transformational development approach by engaging with local communities, understanding their needs, and fostering inclusive participation. This fixed‑term position focuses on building trust, promoting empowerment, and ensuring that vulnerable groups are heard in program design and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Promote community understanding of World Vision’s transformational development work.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement using locally appropriate language and cultural sensitivity.
• Respond to community inquiries and concerns with respect and transparency.
• Build trusting relationships with community members, including women, girls, persons with disabilities, and other minorities.
• Participate in local events to deepen community knowledge and protect World Vision’s reputation.
• Listen to vulnerable children and stakeholders to identify priorities, root causes, and risk factors.
• Collect and act on feedback and complaints about World Vision’s programmes.
• Lead or support inclusive community review and planning meetings.
• Conduct community assessments to identify WASH and DRR needs and contribute to programme design.
• Empower local people with knowledge and skills to address challenges.
• Promote gender equality and inclusion in all activities.
• Collaborate with local partners, assess their capacity, and strengthen partnerships.
• When appropriate, use advocacy and social accountability to challenge systems that perpetuate poverty.

Required profile

• Demonstrated respect for cultural diversity and ability to work inclusively.
• Strong communication skills in the local language and English.
• Experience engaging with vulnerable groups, especially children.
• Ability to listen actively, gather feedback, and respond constructively.
• Commitment to World Vision’s values and mission.
