Civil Engineer – AI Evaluation Specialist

About the role

SME Careers, an AI data services company, is building an expert network of civil engineers to help improve advanced language models. You will evaluate AI‑generated engineering content, challenge model outputs with realistic scenarios, and provide structured feedback to ensure technical accuracy and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assess AI‑generated responses for accuracy, logic, completeness, and clarity across civil engineering topics.
• Design and present realistic civil engineering problems, calculations, and design questions for model testing.
• Review and refine prompts, model explanations, and step‑by‑step solutions.
• Identify factual errors, unsafe recommendations, missing constraints, or incomplete reasoning in model outputs.
• Contribute to standards for how AI communicates technical assumptions, limitations, and professional judgment.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional civil engineering experience in infrastructure design, structural analysis, geotechnical, transportation, water resources, environmental, or construction management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (advanced degrees or PE licensure preferred).
• Deep knowledge of statics, mechanics of materials, soil mechanics, hydraulics, and construction methods.
• Experience with AI data training, annotation, or technical content evaluation is a strong plus.
