Remote C++ Engineer – AI Code Review Contractor

About the role

We are looking for a remote C++ Engineer to work on an hourly‑paid contract with SME Careers. The engineer will review AI‑generated C++ code, system designs and technical explanations, produce reference implementations, and provide step‑by‑step reasoning for complex engineering problems. The role focuses on assessing accuracy, safety, performance and clarity of AI outputs and feeding high‑quality feedback into our AI training pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training content by creating detailed prompts and model responses that cover a wide range of C++ topics.
• Optimize AI performance by evaluating, ranking and improving AI‑generated code explanations and solutions.
• Ensure model integrity by testing AI outputs for inaccuracies, biases and reliability across diverse use cases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 4+ years of professional experience developing production C++ software for performance‑critical or large‑scale systems.
• Expert‑level proficiency with modern C++ (C++11+), including templates, move semantics, smart pointers and the STL.
• Strong background in systems programming, concurrency, operating‑system concepts, low‑level performance optimisation and memory management.
• Proven experience conducting detailed C++ code reviews, enforcing coding standards and writing clear technical explanations in English (C1 level).
