National Director – Timor Leste

About the role

The National Director leads World Vision Timor‑Leste, overseeing program delivery, strategic direction and partnership development to improve the lives of vulnerable children. Reporting to regional leadership, the role represents the organization to government, donors and media while ensuring alignment with global strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and adaptive leadership to improve child well‑being across Timor‑Leste.
• Lead the senior leadership team, ensuring high‑quality, grant‑funded programmes and accountability to communities and donors.
• Build and strengthen partnerships with government, civil society and development partners in health, disaster management, climate change and social development.
• Ensure compliance with local laws, standards and World Vision policies.
• Drive resource development and secure diverse funding to implement the country strategy.
• Promote strong financial management and grant compliance.
• Foster a positive people and culture environment, providing spiritual guidance and Christian leadership.
• Prepare and lead emergency response efforts as needed.

Required profile

• At least ten years of senior management experience, preferably in global non‑profit or international development organisations.
• Demonstrated experience working in Asia and a solid understanding of Timor‑Leste’s political, social, religious and economic context.
• Advanced degree (Master’s preferred) in international development, public health, business administration, social sciences or related field.
• Proven track record in securing grant funding and managing grant‑funded programmes.
• Strong leadership, partnership building and stakeholder engagement skills.
