Legal Researcher (Remote Contractor)

About the role

We are looking for a Legal Research Subject Matter Expert to work remotely on an hourly contractor basis. You will review AI‑generated legal research outputs, produce high‑quality legal research content, and provide precise written feedback to improve AI reasoning.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed prompts and gold‑standard legal research outputs, including issue outlines, research plans, memo templates, and authority summaries.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to enhance accuracy, defensibility, citation support, and clarity.
• Test AI outputs for inaccuracies, misleading certainty, jurisdictional errors, and bias, ensuring reliability across diverse legal scenarios.

Required profile

• JD/LLB (or equivalent) or advanced paralegal/legal research background; active bar membership is a plus.
• 5+ years of professional legal research experience in law firms, in‑house, government, academia, or legal publishing.
• Proven ability to conduct structured research: issue framing, jurisdiction selection, authority retrieval, synthesis, and caveats.
• Strong citation hygiene and ability to verify quotations and pinpoint citations.
• Excellent attention to detail and C1‑level English proficiency.
• Self‑directed, reliable, and able to deliver consistent quality in a remote, hourly workflow.
