Geotechnical Engineer/Geologist – Site Supervisor

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Deputy Team Leader – Resident Engineer / Site Supervisor to support the delivery and supervision of a major highway infrastructure project in Timor‑Leste. The role assists the Team Leader in managing construction supervision activities and ensures compliance with design, quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Team Leader in overseeing construction supervision for a large highway project.
• Ensure all works are executed in accordance with approved designs, technical specifications, contract requirements, quality standards and health & safety regulations.
• Supervise soil investigations during construction and review soil treatment, selection, slope stabilisation and other geotechnical activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, preferably with postgraduate study in geology or geotechnical engineering.
• Minimum 20 years cumulative experience in civil/geotechnical engineering or geology, including at least 10 years in highway or large‑road construction supervision.
• Experience on at least two similar highway road projects in a supervisory capacity.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Preferably a full‑time employee of the PMC for at least two years.
