FreeCAD Mechanical CAD Expert – AI Training Contractor

About the role

SME Careers is seeking a remote contractor with deep FreeCAD expertise to create realistic CAD tasks and record expert demonstrations. Your work will generate high‑quality training data that helps AI agents understand and operate parametric CAD environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design production‑realistic CAD tasks, including part modeling, spreadsheet‑driven families, assemblies, and TechDraw sheets, with clear, objective success criteria.
• Record end‑to‑end expert demonstrations using provided screen‑capture tools, capturing interface state, actions, and file changes.
• Document step‑by‑step workflows in professional English, defining verification rules and intermediate milestones.
• Review and quality‑check submissions from other contributors, ensuring realism and adherence to success criteria.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of professional experience in mechanical design, product development, or related CAD‑centric roles.
• Proficient in FreeCAD, especially Sketcher and Part Design workbenches, with the ability to build robust, fully‑constrained models.
• Strong troubleshooting instincts for constraint‑solver failures, over‑constrained sketches, and broken feature references.
• Comfortable being screen‑recorded and disciplined about keeping personal or confidential data out of view.
• English proficiency at least B2 with clear written communication.

• File‑format handling: STEP, IGES, BREP, STL/mesh
