SQL Engineer (Remote Contractor)

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned SQL Engineer to work remotely on an hourly‑paid contract basis. You will evaluate AI‑generated SQL queries, database designs and data‑processing logic, providing high‑quality reference solutions and clear explanations for complex data problems.

Key responsibilities

• Review and rate AI‑generated SQL queries for correctness, performance and reasoning quality.
• Identify methodological errors, indexing issues, concurrency problems and conceptual misunderstandings.
• Write step‑by‑step technical explanations and model solutions that demonstrate best practices.
• Compare multiple AI responses and rank them based on accuracy, efficiency and clarity.
• Contribute to the creation of AI training prompts and content that improve model understanding of database concepts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• At least 7 years of professional experience with SQL in production environments.
• Strong written English (C1) with the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
• Detail‑oriented, systematic approach to problem solving.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL proficiency – complex joins, window functions, aggregation, query‑plan analysis.
• Database performance tuning, indexing strategies, concurrency and locking troubleshooting.
• Design of relational models and data‑warehouse schemas (star and snowflake).
• ETL/ELT processes and tooling on large‑scale cloud or on‑prem data platforms.
• Version control and CI/CD workflows for managing database changes.
