Remote R Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a remote R Engineer to join SME Careers on an hourly contract. You will evaluate AI‑generated responses, create high‑quality R‑based content, and help improve the reasoning quality of large language models used in data‑analysis tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Review AI‑generated answers, assess accuracy, clarity, and statistical soundness.
• Identify and correct errors in statistical methodology and data‑wrangling workflows.
• Write expert‑level explanations, model solutions, and detailed prompts for AI training.
• Rate and compare multiple AI responses based on correctness and reasoning.
• Provide feedback to ensure AI models remain unbiased and reliable.

Required profile

• 2+ years of hands‑on experience using R for data analysis, statistics, or data science.
• Strong background in applied statistics (regression, inference, model validation).
• Professional experience as a data scientist, statistician, or quantitative analyst.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.).
• Proficiency in English (C1 level) for clear documentation.

Required skills

• R programming, including data wrangling and functional programming.
• Familiarity with tidyverse, data.table, and ggplot2.
• Building end‑to‑end analyses: cleaning, exploration, modeling, visualization.
• Developing reusable functions or packages.
• Using large language models (LLMs) to assist with coding and code review in R.
